There are now tools that allow you to automatically send tweets while you're presenting with slides.

For PowerPoint, it's called Autotweet.

And for Keynote, it's called KeynoteTweet.

I've done a round-up of Twitter tools for presenting http://www.speakingaboutpresenting.com/twitter/10-tools-presenting-with-twitter/

Great post Ian. I'll add three more:

Twebevent - if you're going to be doing any live streaming with embedded Twitter communications.

Twubs - has a event upgrade tool that's great for Twitter chats, Q &A, ability to add specific logos and sponsoring elements to your event.

Wiffiti - embed Wiffiti to your blog or website. Show the Twitter handle and encourage attendees to tweet their thoughts about the ucoming event. Wiffiti displays the tweets in animation. You can customize the Wiffiti background too. Then take Wiffiti onsite and use it at your booth, your workshops or even the registration area for onsite tweets.
